Old Ford Pickups Continued

I'm partial to old Fords, my very first car was a 65 Ford Galaxie.

I found this cherry 57 Ford in a local shopping center and just had to take a pic of it

Apparently this old Ford comes with loads of spare parts, it looks to me like a great project bed for vintage truck enthusiasts.

Mack Trucks Are Virtually Indestructible

As solid as a Mack Truck

The Mack Truck has become part of our lexicon.
It symbolizes or characterizes anything that is:

  • sturdy
  • solid
  • almost indestructible

I've still got my CDL even though I'm retired from driving big trucks. I feel I'd be remiss if I failed to post at least a mention of the vintage CDL trucks I've driven. Macks just seem to outlast every other heavy vehicle ever produced. Cement mixers are usually Macks, mixers get beat up so much concrete companies just prefer to purchase old Macks that were dump trucks in a previous life and throwing the concrete drum apparatus on the back like these:

What I Like About Older Vehicles

In Maryland, if your vehicle is more than 25 years old, you can qualify for Historic Licence Plates. What that also means is... you don't have to go through MVA inspection to get tags. I'm not a fan of vehicles that aren't safe to drive but the Maryland inspection process can often mean the garage that's offering to do inspections has to FIND something wrong with your vehicle to be able to afford to do the inspection for such a low price. Mechanics need to make X amount of dollars, the garage needs to make X amount of money and the fee for the inspection just doesn't do either one of those 2 necessary things.

Now if I'm going to get an older vehicle, I want one that's built tough enough to be able to stay on the road, and a pick up certainly fits that bill. Another neat thing about older trucks is if you want to haul something you won't be so panicky if that something scratches your paint job.

Of course if the older pick up is fully restored, that's a different matter altogether.

In Maryland if you are wanting to restore a vehicle, be it a car or a truck, the best Maryland auto upholstery shop I can recommend is Joe's Upholstery Shop in Frederick Maryland.

When I discover a Maryland auto body shop worth writing about I'll post that here as well.

Amazon.com bettering Ebay at their own game

But to tell you the honest to God truth... it's because it takes money to sell on Ebay and from what I've seen it doesn't take money to sell on Amazon.com!

I can't GET PAID from Amazon.com without paying a fee of some kind, but with Ebay if you don't have the fee...you're just S.O.L.

Frederick Maryland has the Great Frederick Fair, you can buy stuff at the fair and throw it up online at both ebay and amazon.com for a profit
